American reality television star Savannah Chrisley has defended her relationship with fiancé Jason Galanis amid scrutiny over their 27-year age difference, following the announcement of her engagement and pregnancy.

The 29-year-old Chrisley Knows Best personality announced her engagement and first pregnancy on Tuesday through social media and her Unlocked podcast.

TMZ confirmed her partner is 56-year-old businessman Jason Galanis, a former associate of Hunter Biden who served time in federal prison for securities fraud.

Addressing Public Scrutiny and the 27-Year Age Difference

During Tuesday's episode of her podcast, Chrisley confronted public reactions to the substantial age gap between herself and Galanis.

She explained that she kept their romance private for months because she anticipated harsh commentary from online critics.

'Yes, there is a huge age gap there, OK?' Chrisley stated on her podcast. 'And that's probably part of the reason why I kept a lot of it quiet, because I know how brutal the public can be. But I genuinely do not care.'

Chrisley said the age difference did not concern her, emphasising the love, respect and fulfilment she found in the relationship.

'I have always said, "I would rather [have] 20 phenomenal, unbelievable years with someone than 50 'meh' years,"' Chrisley said. 'We do everything together. And it's just such an amazing, fulfilling feeling to finally find your person. So, yes, the age difference. So what?'

She added that Galanis remains exceptionally active, remarking that 'his body is great' and 'his mind is even sharper'.

Cayman Islands Proposal and Emotional Pregnancy Announcement

The couple began dating in July 2025 and became engaged five months later, during a holiday in the Cayman Islands in December 2025.

Chrisley recalled that Galanis presented her with the ring without pressuring her to accept it as a formal engagement.

'Before I open this, I just want you to know that this is just an expression of love to you,' Chrisley recalled Galanis telling her. 'This can be an engagement ring, a promise ring, a cocktail ring for all I care.'

Chrisley also shared an Instagram video featuring ultrasound scans and clips of the couple embracing.

'I've prayed for this life. I've cried for this life,' Chrisley wrote in her social media statement. 'And then God sent me J. Right in the middle of the heartbreak.'

She praised Galanis for supporting her throughout her pregnancy, saying he had not missed a single medical appointment.

Federal Fraud Conviction and Presidential Sentence Commutation

Galanis brings a complex legal history into the high-profile relationship.

In September 2020, a federal judge sentenced Galanis to 189 months in prison for his involvement in multiple securities fraud schemes. Galanis previously worked with Hunter Biden and business associate Devon Archer, and he later testified during the 2024 congressional impeachment inquiry into President Joe Biden.

President Donald Trump commuted Galanis's sentence on 28 March 2025, reducing it to time served and enabling his release from federal custody.

Galanis served part of his sentence at the Federal Prison Camp in Pensacola, Florida. Chrisley's father, Todd Chrisley, was previously incarcerated at the same Pensacola facility for bank fraud and tax evasion before receiving a full presidential pardon.

Navigating Family Scepticism and Personal Independence

During a June 2026 appearance on the Whine Down with Jana Kramer podcast, Chrisley acknowledged that her father was 'not too fond' of the relationship.

Chrisley has also argued that relationships with significant age differences can work, defending her own relationship despite public scrutiny.

'For me, I'm not dealing with the insecurity of a younger guy who's trying to keep up,' Chrisley told Kramer. 'Honestly, it's the healthiest relationship I've ever been in.'

She also praised Galanis for supporting her television career without feeling intimidated by her public profile.

'He's my biggest cheerleader,' Chrisley said. 'He thinks what I do is great, and he doesn't try to stifle me.'
