Jessie J Celebrates Life After Being Declared Cancer-Free as She Recovers From Another Surgery

Jessie J has told fans she is recovering well after a second breast reconstruction operation, just months after announcing she was cancer-free.
The Price Tag singer, 38, returned to Instagram on Sunday 25 October with a carousel of photographs from hospital and home, ending a six-week break from the platform. It was her first post since early September, when she said she was logging off to prepare for the procedure.
In one image she stands in a hospital gown giving a thumbs-up, with a caption pairing the emoji with the words 'to healing'. Another, taken from her hospital bed, shows her in a black bra above a joke about life after her mastectomy: 'My Dad can't make the joke "She'd make a great flat mate" anymore. Talk to me nice', followed by two fried egg emojis.

Other slides showed her with her son, Sky, three, whose face was kept out of frame, and included inspirational quotes. The singer, whose real name is Jessica Ellen Cornish, did not give medical details about the operation.
From Diagnosis to All-Clear
Jessie J announced in June 2025, around her Capital Summertime Ball performance, that she had been diagnosed with early-stage breast cancer and would 'disappear for a bit' to undergo a mastectomy.
She said at the time that she wanted to 'be open and share it' with fans, and has since said that going public helped her process the diagnosis and show support for others facing similar experiences.
She underwent surgery shortly afterwards and later said the cancer had not spread. Six weeks after the operation, she was readmitted to hospital over ongoing complications, saying she discharged herself after being assured her symptoms were not caused by a blood clot in her lungs.
Later that summer, she cancelled the US dates of her No Secrets tour and postponed UK and European shows ahead of a second operation, which she described at the time as 'nothing too serious'.
In May 2026, she told followers she was cancer-free following an MRI scan as part of her yearly check-up. Over the past two years she has also released an album while raising her son.
A Planned Break From Social Media
On 7 September, she told followers she was stepping away from Instagram to have her second reconstruction, describing the previous two years as 'extremely busy'. She said she wanted time 'to rest, to process, to love on myself and my boy', and called the break a 'digital cleanse' intended to aid her recovery.
Breast cancer is the most common cancer in the UK, and many patients choose reconstruction after a mastectomy.
According to the NHS, it can be carried out at the same time as the mastectomy or months or years later, and some patients need further procedures to complete the process. An all-clear therefore does not always mark the end of surgical treatment.
Anyone considering reconstruction is advised to discuss the options, timing and recovery with their surgical team.
Jessie J's public discussion of surgery, body changes and recovery has drawn praise from fans over the past year.
