Mother Accused of Killing Husband and 3-Year-Old Son at Great Wolf Lodge Told Police She Was 'Suicidal, Not Stupid'

A mother accused of killing her husband and three-year-old son at a Pocono Mountains resort called 911 and reportedly told the dispatcher, 'They're already gone', according to a criminal complaint. Both were found dead in a guest room at Great Wolf Lodge.
Metallica Rose Harrison, 27, of Towanda, Pennsylvania, faces two counts of criminal homicide over the deaths of her husband, Charles Harrison, and their son, identified as T.H. They died at the Scotrun resort on Monday 12 October.
Monroe County District Attorney Mike Mancuso called it a 'violent domestic tragedy' while announcing the charges. He said the woman charged was the person who made the 911 call.
Injuries and Suicidal Statements
Harrison had cuts on her left wrist and superficial punctures about the neck. She was taken to a local hospital for treatment. She allegedly told officers she 'wanted to be with her husband and son'.

During the ambulance ride, she allegedly said she worked hard to be 'the best mother' and 'the best wife'. She added: 'I was supposed to have my happy family.'
After a detective read her Miranda warning, Harrison allegedly said she was 'suicidal, not stupid' and would not speak with police. She is awaiting a preliminary hearing.
What the Complaint Says
Officers went to the room after the call. Harrison allegedly said 'I need police' and, when asked if she was alone, said her husband and son were 'already gone in the bed'.
Charles Harrison had multiple stab wounds to his chest, while the boy appeared to have a single stab wound to the chest. Both were found dead on mattresses. Authorities did not observe defensive wounds on Charles Harrison's body, according to the complaint.
A large butcher kitchen knife and a smaller one were found in the bathroom. Resort staff confirmed neither was the type kept by the lodge. The family checked in on 21 September and were due to check out on Tuesday.
Police said the case is an isolated domestic tragedy with no threat to the community. Mancuso said post-mortem examinations are still to come, calling the case 'the first stage in a long process'.
Resort Statement and Public Reaction
Jason Lasecki, vice president of corporate communications for Great Wolf Resorts, said the company was 'deeply saddened and heartbroken'. He called the deaths 'an isolated family incident' and said the resort is cooperating fully with local law enforcement.
Matt Wallace, founder of Fortune 1,000,000, reacted to the case in a post on X. He wrote that 'a wonderful 3-year-old boy and his dad are dead'.
Domestic Violence and Mental Health
According to the US Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC), more than one in three women and more than one in six men have experienced contact sexual violence, physical violence and/or stalking by an intimate partner during their lifetimes. The CDC defines intimate partner violence more broadly to include physical violence, sexual violence, stalking and psychological aggression by a current or former partner.
These figures are general health data, not findings about this case. Intimate partner violence can have serious physical and psychological consequences, including anxiety, depression and post-traumatic stress disorder. However, authorities have not established a motive for the deaths in this case.
Anyone who feels threatened or scared in a relationship needs help. The National Domestic Violence Hotline, on 800-799-SAFE (800-799-7233), is free and open 24 hours a day. In an emergency, people should call 911.
